  <common_name>Uridine</common_name>
  <class>SmallMolecule</class>
<description>Uridine belongs to the pyrimidine nucleosides, a class of nucleosides, nucleotides, and analogues within the organic compounds. It has the chemical formula C9H12N2O6 and an average molecular weight of 244.20 g/mol.

Biologically, uridine acts as an agonist (PMC12349724) and an antioxidant (PMC13072972). It has a therapeutic effect on inflammation (PMC6348798). The compound interacts with three recorded protein targets: Thymidine phosphorylase (TYMP), the Nucleoside-specific channel-forming protein tsx, and it serves as an inhibitor of the U6 snRNA-associated Sm-like protein LSm6 (LSM6).

Industrially, uridine is utilized as a humectant as well as a softener and conditioner. It is found in or released from 16 recorded sources. These include household cleaning and consumer products such as soap detergents, tobacco smoke filters, perfumes within detergents and soaps, and cigar cigarettes. It is also associated with electrical and electronic equipment, specifically X ray tubes, electrodes, antennas, television systems, and conductors or conductive bodies characterised by the conductive materials. Furthermore, uridine is found in food, food processing and cookware, including the preparation of malt, preparation of vinegar, preparation of wine or sparkling wine, fermentation processes for beer, food preservation, and two additional sources.</description>
