ClassSmall Molecule
Description
Dimethomorph is an exogenous organic compound with the formula C21H22ClNO4 and an average molecular weight of 387.86 g/mol. It exists as a solid at room temperature. Dimethomorph belongs to the diphenylmethanes, a subclass of benzene and substituted derivatives within the organic compounds. Used industrially as a biocide, this compound is a fungicide effective against Oomycetes in vines, tomatoes, and other crops, providing a systemic effect and good protective activity. It also functions as a lipid synthesis inhibitor. There are 18 recorded protein targets for dimethomorph, including ADP-ribosyl cyclase/cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase 1 (CD38), Tumor necrosis factor (TNF), C-C motif chemokine 2 (CCL2), and Nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group I member 2 (NR1I2), among 14 other proteins. Dimethomorph has been recorded in two sources: drinking water (drinking water & water supply) and the preparation of malt (food, food processing & cookware). The recorded route of exposure for this compound is oral.
